Our History

France

As a leading ready-mix concrete and aggregates producer, CEMEX is a key player in the country's national and regional development. Our operations transport a significant quantity of materials by waterway, a more efficient and sustainable means of delivery than trucks and trains.

User base

The company applies its technology and expertise to a wide range of uses, from complex construction projects to residential home construction and works of art.

In 2008 the country's annual construction output declined 17.8 percent, driven mainly by decreased residential and public works construction.

Value initiatives

Quality is at the heart of the company's business and is reflected in the company's rigorous and regular monitoring of each link of the value chain, from production to consumption.

Environmental stewardship is integral to CEMEX's business. For example, in the Ile-de-France area of the country, the company's transport of materials by waterway offers a rational, economic, and ecological alternative to road transport. Each river convoy carrying 5,000 tons of materials means 220 fewer truck journeys on French roads; it also consumes three times less energy than train transport and five times less energy than truck transport.
