Ricardo Lopez explains how his career has developed with CEMEX... View | Video Hub
The three characteristics that enable my team to achieve its goals are vision, passion and commitment. At CEMEX there is no time for boredom; when you have exhausted the learning curve of one position, a new challenge begins.
When CEMEX called to offer me an interview, I did considerable research on the company. After reading many success stories, I accepted the invitation. The interview was a great experience, and got first engaged to the culture.
“I celebrate the challenge to contribute to a company that helps builds the infrastructure that makes our society better.”
I joined CEMEX in 2004 as a Planning consultant. In 2005 I got the opportunity to become the Manager of Market Development and New Businesses, and with a great and talented team we were able to achieve the unthinkable—moving many products from research and development to realities in the market! Export, for example, was a myth; some people predicted that project would bring only 12,000 metric tons maximum per month. Today we are the largest exporter of cement to the Caribbean, surpassing everyone’s expectations including my own.
In 2009 I was asked to develop the new aggregates business; I cherished this new opportunity, until roughly a year later, when I was surprised to be named the Planning Director for the Caribbean. Today, I celebrate the challenge to contribute to a company that helps builds the infrastructure that makes our society better.
Looking back, I would say that working at CEMEX has been a great education. Not only because of the intensity of the job, its fast-moving environment and how these have helped me grow as a professional, but also for the hard work and passion that our teams demonstrate everyday and how this has inspire me personally.
