CEMEX in Spain has obtained quality and environment certification from the AIDICO Technological Institute of Construction, an accredited institution for quality and environmental management systems, for its gravel quarries and ready-mix concrete and mortar plants in the country.
In March 2010, AIDICO conducted certification audits in 27 of CEMEX's aggregates quarries and 102 of the company's concrete and mortar plants in Spain.
For its aggregates quarries and mortar plants, CEMEX received the plant production control certification under CE European Standards, which is a requirement to sell construction materials in the European Union. Additionally, the company received the AIDICO ISO 9001 for 130 of its aggregates quarries and ready-mix concrete and mortar plants. This qualification certifies that formalized business processes are being applied in the organization.
The AIDICO ISO 14001 certification, an internationally recognized standard used by organizations for designing and implementing environmental management systems, was awarded to CEMEX for 19 of its facilities, including 2 quarries, 1 mortar plant, and 16 ready-mix plants.
The certifications were presented on May 18 by the institution's director, Ramón Congost and accepted by Ready-Mix Manager in Spain Giuseppe Maniscalco.
Globally, CEMEX has a longstanding commitment to effective land management and biodiversity conservation. We work diligently to responsibly manage the land within and around our operations to protect biodiversity and maximize our contribution to nature conservation.
These certifications highlight CEMEX's global commitment to excellence in operational and business practices.
