CEMEX recognized for outstanding achievement in collaboration

CEMEX has been named the winner of the Forrester Groundswell Award in the Management: Collaboration System category, which recognizes major social networking initiatives in companies. CEMEX was given the award for the outstanding adoption of Shift, the new collaboration platform which combines elements of popular social networks, wikis, and communications tools to encourage efficient and meaningful company-wide sharing of ideas and best practices.

Forrester Groundswell Award in the Management: Collaboration System

Since its launch early this year, over 17,500 CEMEX employees have adopted Shift. Over 500 virtual communities have been established by users, transcending typical corporate structures, departments, and titles. Topics range from best practices in environmental stewardship to streamlining supply chains to sharing sales achievements.

Shift's success is in the combination of technology and adoption. The tool puts many advantages at the disposal of CEMEX's employees, but it is their enthusiasm in utilizing it that creates true value for the company. Collaboration, along with leadership and integrity, is one of the CEMEX's core values, and the employee's use of Shift shows how these values are guiding the company.

Forrester Research is an independent research company that advises global leaders in business and technology. Since 2007, Forrester has been recognizing outstanding applications of technology in four categories: Business to Business (B2B), Business to Consumer (B2C), Management, and International. This year CEMEX participated in the Management category alongside GE, Alcoa, Accenture, and CISCO, among others.

Shift is only one of many initiatives CEMEX's innovation area. The area is currently facilitating several global initiatives to advance collaboration among experts from all of CEMEX business units around high-priority areas ranging from infrastructure to alternative fuels.
