Approach. Using the Shift platform we are now improving the way employees interact and collaborate all around the world and increasing effectiveness. Now everyone has access to information and knowledge, right at their fingertips. With a better means for collaborating, networks can now work on identifying opportunities, generating ideas, creating scenarios, setting goals, making plans, and generating results, all while learning from each other’s experiences and best practices. The platform provides the common ground for interaction and coordination among colleagues and most importantly, enables the perfect environment for collaboration. |

Implementation. CEMEX has a history of being an organization where interaction occurred under a hierarchical structure, while the trends tell us that innovation requires more robust collaborative practices that have proven more effective than the traditional structures of the past. CEMEX identified an opportunity here and decided to implement new collaborative practices where employees can interact one-on-one or in groups to boost the performance of the organization and leap ahead of our top competitors. As these new practices have been implemented, they have been very well accepted, and the company is starting to see the real value of collaboration, while minimizing individualities and separation marked by hierarchies. |

Main Results. Having people with different perspectives share their thoughts on certain topics has been a great motivation to generate ideas. Collaboration in CEMEX is being fostered as more people start joining Shift. New success cases and improvements in the way people collaborate are noticeable with each passing day. So far, more than 500 communities have been formed, more than 700 blogs are being written, and new additions can be seen daily in an increasingly rate. Many people are following the trend and have a desire to share experiences, best practices and thoughts. They are also interested in reading and learning from what their colleagues have to say.

Testimonials. To boost participation and the expansion of networks, a kickoff event was held to encourage people to make their profile, add contacts to their networks, and make comments on the blog. This exercise proved successful and brought the highest peak of logs to Shift. Comments in the blog dramatically increased and provided insight to what people thought about the platform.
