CEMEX, S.A.B. de C.V. (“CEMEX”) (NYSE: CX) announced today that it´s joining the Global Alliance for YOUth (All4YOUth), a business alliance of more than 200 companies that seeks to strengthen the capabilities of young people between the ages of 18 and 29 years to enter the professional world. CEMEX is one of 20 multinational companies that recently joined the alliance and were announced at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
Founded by Nestlé in 2014, All4YOUth is a business-driven movement of like-minded organizations working together to help young people around the world to acquire the skills they need to thrive in the workplace of today and tomorrow. CEMEX, together with the Global Alliance for YOUth, continues its contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly six SDGs focused on youth, including Zero Hunger, Quality Education, Gender Equality, Decent Work and Economic Growth, Reduced Inequalities, and Climate Action.
CEMEX's participation in this alliance will help more than 65,000 young people by 2022. Until now, the company’s social programs have already reached 34,000 youth through the New Employment Opportunities (NEO) alliance, with 60% formal job placement within six months.
"CEMEX seeks to promote and participate in high-impact social programs to empower women, youth, and communities, helping them find employment and improve family incomes. We are currently members of the NEO alliance, an initiative that works to raise and strengthen employment opportunities for young people through scholarships, counseling, and job training. Now, together with All4YOUth, we continue to strengthen our commitment to youth, and through this global alliance, we are convinced that we can help them on a larger scale," said Fernando A. Gonzalez, CEO of CEMEX.
The aim of this alliance is to reduce school dropout rates, contribute to young people’s employability, and to help them develop their skills for the workplace of today and tomorrow.
